GBG Slack Community Code of Conduct

Purpose 

The GBG Slack community is a space for developers to facilitate real-time messaging, and integration with other tools to streamline communication and teamwork. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for participants to ensure a safe, inclusive, and productive environment. By using Slack, you agree to abide by the following GBG Slack Community Code of Conduct, and GBG’s Legal and Regulatory page (https://www.gbgplc.com/en/legal-and-regulatory/) as applicable. 

Expected Behaviour

 

    1. Be Respectful: Treat everyone with respect and consideration. Avoid discriminatory, derogatory, or offensive language and behaviour.
    2. Be Inclusive: Welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. Be mindful of language that may exclude or alienate others. 
    3. Be Collaborative: Share knowledge, resources, and support. Encourage and assist others in their learning and development. 
    4. Be Professional: Maintain a professional demeanour in all interactions. Avoid sharing inappropriate content or engaging in unprofessional conduct. 
    5. Be Responsible: Use the community resources responsibly. Avoid spamming, excessive self-promotion, or sharing confidential information.

 

Unacceptable Behaviour

 

    1. Harassment: Any form of harassment, including but not limited to, offensive comments, personal attacks, or unwelcome sexual attention. 
    2. Discrimination: Discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. 
    3. Disruptive Behaviour: Disruptive behaviour that interferes with the community's purpose, including trolling, spamming, or derailing conversations. 
    4. Inappropriate Content: Sharing or promoting inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content. It’s also important to be aware that personal data should not be shared via Slack. 
    5. Harmful/Derogatory Language: Using harmful language toward a user based on their: 
      • Background 
      • Family 
      • Gender Identity or Expression 
      • Sexual Orientation 
      • Race/Ethnicity 
      • Physical traits (such as body size, shape, scars, etc.) 
      • Age 
      • Native Language 
      • Abilities 
      • National Origin 
      • Location 
      • Religion 
      • Political affiliation 
      • Other personal attributes 

      is unacceptable. Always exercise good judgment. 

    6. Abuse of Video/Voice Calling: Slack offers voice and video calling within its platform, but it is unacceptable to abuse this feature by calling users directly without their consent. We understand that accidental clicks can occur; if this is to happen, remain professional and send a polite apology to the user.  
    7. Impersonation of GBG Employment: impersonating a GBG Employee (or employment by GBG) is prohibited and will result in being banned from Slack. This is a zero-tolerance rule. 
    8. Undisclosed use of AI in Questions, Responses, or Conversations: If using an AI tool to generate content for the Developer Slack, it is mandatory to explicitly disclose the use of such tools each time. Be cautious about the information provided to the AI tool and refrain from sharing any confidential or sensitive information.

 

Screen Sharing and Voice/Video Calls 

Slack allows users to make voice and video calls, along with the option to share their screen. When using these features, ensure that you are mindful of others. Exercise caution when sharing your screen and be aware of any open windows that may contain sensitive or personal information. 

Slack ‘Apps’ 

Slack allows for the addition of applications to enhance its functionality. However, in the Developer Slack Workspace, GBG users are not permitted to install apps independently. All app installations will be managed by GBG. 

Reporting and Enforcement

 

    1. Reporting: If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour, please report it to the GBG Admins immediately. Reports will be handled confidentially.  
    2. Enforcement: Community moderators will take appropriate action in response to reports of unacceptable behaviour. This may include warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the community.
       

Personal Information 

No personal identifiable information (PII) or files are to be shared via Slack and if any are discovered, they will be removed by one of the admins. If any PII is shared in error relating to a customer, we will also notify the customer advising them of the deletion.
